RaD Maverick Showreel 2020

Time Travel with us

Time is a tricky thing to grasp – sometimes things take forever and some moments (especially the good ones) seem to fly by. Finland based travel collective TimeTravels is rumoured to have cracked how to master time, and have commissioned the Rat and Dragon team to capture their magic sauce in film format.

“We wanted to create a more narrative feel to the film, beyond putting a whole bunch of archival footage together,” explains director Saxon. “Capturing that moment when you seem to have mastered time is something so undefinable, but it was a lot of fun to be working with Mikko and the team around northern Europe. We’re very happy to remote project manage again, especially when there’s super cute reindeers involved!”

Welcome to your New Favourite Maverick Film Team

Founded in 2013 by two independent film makers, Rat & Dragon has been going from strength to strength, year after year.

“We have led productions in 17 countries, our films have had over 1 million views on YouTube, over 1.6 million on Facebook and have screened at cinemas, on big public screens and on TV,” Explains producer Nicola. “Our independent films have screened at film festivals worldwide, including Tribeca, Raindance, Cinequest, Sedona, the Melbourne International, the San Diego and the Munich Film Festival. That’s quite a mouthful!”

The RaD team has also grown to now have a team of 9 key collaborators. Check out what they have been up to in the brand new RaD Showreel for 2020!

Cinema ad for beautiful Wyndham

The Rat & Dragon team have been commissioned to create a cinematic ad for the beautiful Wyndham area of Melbourne to compete with movie trailers at cinemas around the heart of creative Australia.

“The Wyndham region is a particularly pretty area of Melbourne,” explains director Saxon, “with the historic Werribee Mansion grounds, rose gardens, open range safari park full of African animals roaming free and of course the harbour and RAAF aviation centre vying for visitor attention. We focussed on creating an ad that looks like a movie trailer rather than just another a piece of destination marketing, and the locations activities and character of Wyndham really shone through.”

The ad will play at all cinemas in the area over the next few months, paired with social media stings, big screen displays at Avalon International Airport and a print campaign for 2020.
